16th Annual Trex® Plastic Film Recycling Challenge

Trex Company, together with Charter Next Generation, Inc., is calling on K-12 students across the country to join this year’s Trex® Plastic Film Recycling Challenge for a chance to win prizes for collecting and recycling as much polyethylene (PE) plastic film as possible over a five-month period between America Recycles Day (Nov. 15) and Earth Day (April 22). In addition to earning national recognition, top-performing schools can win high-performance Trex outdoor living products for their campuses as well as cash prizes to use toward educational programming and supplies.

2023 Overall Winner:

1st: Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia collected 28,435 lbs

awarded $7500 as the overall winner($5,000+ $2,500)

2023 Top Elementary School Winners:

1st: Onteora Central Schools in Boiceville, New York collected 12,105 lbs – awarded $5000

2nd: Woodland Elementary School in Monroe Township, New Jersey collected 9,682 lbs – awarded $3000

3rd: Moscow Charter School in Moscow, Idaho collected 7,785 lbs – awarded $2500

2023 Top Middle School Winners:

1st: Einstein Middle School in Appleton, Wisconsin collected 6,128 lbs – awarded $5000

2nd: Carl Sandburg Middle School in Old Bridge, New Jersey collected 2,400 lbs – awarded  $3000

3rd: Riverside Middle School in Riverside, New Jersey collected 2,375 lbs – awarded $2500

2023 Top High School Winners:

1st: Denbigh High School in Newport News, Virginia collected 28,435 lbs – awarded $5,000

2nd: Gayville-Volin High School in Gayville, South Dakota collected 21,626 lbs – awarded $3000

3rd: Chelsea High School in Chelsea, Michigan collected 21,120 lbs – awarded $2500
